She had been documenting her fertility struggles online.

Vanessa Fernandez Arango had spent the last number of months sharing her fertility journey on social media after amassing a large following.

However, she tragically died during an emergency caesarean section earlier this month, Spanish news outlet El Mundo reports.

The 30-year-old began documenting her experience with IVF at the beginning of the year in a bid to inspire other women hoping to have children.

Vanessa and her husband Jonathan announced the news in May that they were expecting a baby, saying:

“The beginning of the end. The beginning of feeling life and the end of sufferring,” she captioned a picture of a positive pregnancy test.

“So, here begins our story, our story with a happy ending.”

Vanessa had turned to IVF after suffering complications during two previous pregnancies which left her without fallopian tubes.

However, in early September, Vanessa fainted and was rushed to the hospital. Doctors performed an emergency C-section but the expectant mother went into cardiac arrest and a short while later passed away.

With their baby in intensive care, Vanessa’s husband Jonathan took to her social media platforms to say:

“The baby is in a very serious condition in the ICU and my wife has suffered a cardiac arrest that she could not overcome.”

Today, baby Alvaro is recovering and is said to be doing well.

“He’s recovering little by little, he still has many tests and will continue for a while in intensive care, but it’s a little step,” dad Jonathan wrote recently.
