Both children are in critical conditions in hospital.

Two children remain in a critical condition in hospital after a house fire in Preston, England.

The youths have suffered life-changing injuries.

It is believed a fire broke out in a house in Preston, Lancashire on Friday, April 8th.

A mother and her two children were in the house when the fire broke out.

The house, located on Coronation Crescent, went up in flames late on Friday evening.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the fire just before 7.52 pm.

However, it took over two hours for fire crews to get the blaze under control.

They managed to rescue the family, but the children are in a critical condition.

Thankfully, their mother is recovering and has non-life-threatening injuries.

However, her daughter and son, aged just 3 and 5 years, are both suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Doctors are doing everything they can, but they're both in critical conditions.

Their family is being supported by special staff in the hospital.

Over the weekend, police in Lancashire arrested a man in his 20s in connection with the fire.

He was arrested on suspicion of arson but was released after questioning.

Police are still investigating the cause of the fire.

They're conducting a thorough investigation alongside the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service.

Detective Chief Inspector Hill said: "Sadly the two children are still in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

"We continue to keep them and their family in our thoughts at this awful time."

We're also praying for both the young children as well as their mum during this distressing time.
