Prince William and Kate Middleton are keeping a big secret from son George

It’s only natural: every parent wants to protect their children.

And despite their best efforts, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are probably not going to be able to give their children a totally normal childhood.

But that doesn’t mean they won’t try.

Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are some of the most photographed children across the globe – but Kate and Prince William are reportedly keen for their children to enjoy their early years without the pressures of royal life.

The Mirror reports that the doting parents have done this by being coy about telling George, who is currently third in line for the throne, what his future will involve.

The publication reports that Prince William is quoted as saying that the Cambridges are a “very normal” family behind closed doors.

The dad-of-three added:

“There’ll be a time and a place to bring George up and understand how he fits in, in the world.”

Catherine Mayer, who penned the book Charles: The Heart of the King, said that Prince William had previously struggled with the significance of his future role while growing up.

She told E! News in 2015:

“With George they are trying to delay that moment of realisation and give him normality before they thrust this on him.

“But it will be, nevertheless, part of his upbringing both in terms of what he sees his parents and grandparents doing and probably quite soon a beginning of an understanding that he is in public life and what that means.”
