It is believed the couple has been "so upset by the rudeness of people mocking a little boy", Daily Mail reports.
"Of course, William and Kate are nervous about what the future holds for George. He’s growing up in a different era to his parents. Times have changed since then."
"There wasn’t social media or internet trolls when William and Kate were children," a source told US Weekly.
"The Cambridges feel it’s necessary to shield George, Charlotte and Louis from the spotlight and have become cautious about the appearances [they] make," they revealed.
The Cambridge children are usually only seen at official royal events like Trooping the Colour or at Sandringham for Christmas mass, but they have joined their parents on royal engagements too.
Last Christmas, the family of five attended a special pantomime performance at the Palladium in London. The event was held to thank key workers and their families for everything they did during the pandemic.
However, since the incident after the Euros, the Duke and Duchess are being more cautious about their children's public appearances.
