When Princess Charlotte is baptised on Sunday, July 5, the ceremony location will serve as a poignant tribute to the grandmother she never met.
Charlotte’s ceremony will take place at St Mary Magdalene Church, Sandringham, the same church where Princess Diana was christened on August 30, 1961.
Remembering Prince William’s beloved mother has become a family tradition for the Cambridges. In 2013, Prince George was baptised in the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace in London, the place Diana’s body lay in the days before she was buried.
It is expected that the princess will wear a lace and satin gown similar to that worn by her big brother, who was pictured in a replica of the christening robe worn by Queen Victoria’s eldest daughter, Victoria, in 1841.
The ceremony will be private, with members of the royal family and the Middleton family as well as godparents and their spouses invited. Harry is widely expected to be Charlotte’s godfather, with Pippa Middleton tipped to be godmother and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie also in the running.
We’re looking forward to seeing the official photos, likely to be released soon after the big day.
