Pro-Life group hold protest outside of hospital in County Louth

A small group have assembled outside of a Drogheda hospital to protest abortion.

The new laws applying to abortion in Ireland were recently put in place, but some are not happy with the decision.

Approximately six to seven people manned a protest outside of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Co Louth today, one of the healthcare facilities which provide the medical procedure.

One of the protesters is Charles Byrne, who unsuccessfully challenged the outcome of the referendum with legal action.

According to The Journal.ie Byrne said of the protest;

“It is a quiet protest, we are not going to leaflet people.”

While the protest may be peaceful many took to Twitter to voice their concerns about how a protest like this may affect women who have to pass by it;

“If a woman chooses to end her pregnancy it could be for all sorts of reasons, you shouldn’t judge her, it could have FFA or maybe she is at risk you just don’t know.”

HSE’s abortion support helpline and website officially launched on January 1.
