‘Airbnb of retail…’ this startup is changing pop-up retail

Niamh Maher

Have an idea? Make it pop.

It’s a golden rule of retail…where your business is based has a huge impact on how well it will do. On this week’s episode of The Capital B Lucinda Kelly joins the team to discuss her company Popertee. It’s an innovative idea that aims to merge technology and property and they describe themselves as  “similar to Airbnb for retail properties”

Whether you’re a start-up company or a globally established brand, Popertee guarantees to find you the perfect space be it for a year or a day.

Speaking to Nick Webb on JOE‘s weekly business podcast, Lucinda Kelly explained more about the idea behind the site;

“It’s really important for a brand that we’re working with to find the best location, they need to know their audience they need to know their neighbourhood, and the types of people in the area. Whether you’re a small business or a global player… it’s crucial”.

So, how do you find these perfect retail spaces? Lucinda says technology is constantly evolving and they’re using this to their advantage;

“We’re using data from social media, so we’re using the likes of Google places, all the mobile phone data you have we can store and understand patterns of people and footfall at street level. This is all very new and it’s how we’re changing. It will enable, over the coming years, brands and retailers to better select their locations”.
