Oh, brilliant.
Listen up ladies, because by the end of the year, you're going to be paying nearly €3 for a journey on Dublin Bus.
But it's not only Dublin Bus and Luas, Irish Rail and Bus Eireann will also be raising their fares.
According to
98fm, The National Transport Authority, who set the fares, says it is "conscious of the cost of travel", but the fares need to go up so it can provide "fast, reliable, punctual, convenient and affordable" services. Hmm...
Here's the lowdown of what's increasing:
Dublin Bus
- Cash fares increasing by 15 cent
- Leap Card adult fare for 4 to 13 stages will increase by 10 cent
- Other adult Leap Card and cash fares will go up by 5.6 percent and schoolchild Leap up 1 cent.
- Lowest child fare increases by 5 cent
Luas
- New evening peak fare from 4pm to 7pm
- Extended morning peak from 7am to 10am
- Adult single fare will go up by 5 percent
- Increase to 1-day, 7-day and 30-day fares by 5 percent
- Monthly and annual fares up by 10 percent to €110 and €1,100, respectively
Irish Rail
- Short Hop Zone fares will increase 4.6 percent
- Short Hop Zone and Intercity Taxsaver fares to increase between 0.5 percent to 1.6 percent
- Some economy 2 single and return fares increase by average 1.2 percent
- Intercity adult and child weekly up average of 1.2 percent
