Put away the paddling pool, there may be a drought on the way

Tomorrow is set to be the hottest day of the year.

The first thing many parents will want to do is pull out the paddling pool for the kids, but this may not be such a good idea.

Reports indicate that because of the heatwave the country is currently experiencing we could be in line for water shortages.

As of yet, it has not been confirmed that the country will experience a drought, but experts at Met Eireann think it’s a very likely possibility.

Families are being urged to reconsider the use of paddling and waddling pools in case the country sees a water shortage this week, as there has been very little rainfall over the last month.

Of course, this is the last thing parents want to hear when you have small children cranky from the heat and dying to splash in the pool.

There are alternatives though that won’t contribute to any possible dwindle in the water supply.

Local lakes, beaches and swimming pools are a fantastic way to cool off with the kids without needing to root in the attic or shed for an inflatable pool.

Not only will it save water in case of a drought but it will also save you having to lug jugs of water back and forth from the kitchen to fill it up.
