Two separate weather warnings have been issued affecting eight counties across the north and south of Ireland.
The Met Office has issued a Status Yellow rain and snow warning for Antrim, Tyrone and Derry, which comes into effect at 4pm on Monday and remains in place until 12pm on Tuesday.
The forecaster said rain and snow in these counties may lead to tricky travel conditions.
A separate Status Yellow rainfall warning has been issued by Met Éireann for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo.
The warning comes into effect at 8pm on Monday evening and remains in place until just before midnight on Tuesday.
Met Éireann said heavy rain on Monday night combined with frequent showers on Tuesday will bring rainfall accumulations of between 30mm to 40mm in some areas and there will be a risk of some localised flooding.
The band of heavy rain will extend northeastwards over the country early on Monday night, with some of it falling as sleet or snow in north Ulster.
On Tuesday, heavy rain and sleet will clear from Ulster in the morning, leaving behind a breezy and showery day.
Bright spells will be accompanied by widespread showers as well as some isolated thunderstorms.
Temperatures on Tuesday will be a maximum of 8 to 11 degrees in most areas.
