A rainfall weather warning has been issued for one county in Ireland

It's going to bucket down in County Louth today.

A Status Yellow rainfall warning has been issued for County Louth. Met Éireann predicts that up to 20mm of rain could fall and it will remain heavy and consistent. The weather forecaster said: "Heavy persistent rainfall today with 20mm possible. After recent heavy rainfall and with water levels elevated, some flooding may occur."

The warning will be lifted later this evening. Meanwhile, the rest of the country is looking quite wet and windy for the day and there is also a risk of hail and thunder. "Scattered outbreaks of rain continuing today, with heavy persistent falls across parts of north and east of Leinster. Sunshine and showers elsewhere, with a risk of hail and thunder. Cool and breezy; highest temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees, in moderate to fresh northwest winds." Tonight is going to be very cold with temperatures dropping to -2 degrees. "Some showers will continue for a time tonight, mainly along eastern and southwestern fringes. Overall dry and clear, but turning cold with lowest temperatures of -2 to +2 degrees. Frost and fog setting in too in near calm, with the risk of some icy stretches."
