Everyone has a word that gives them that 'fingernails on a chalkboard' feeling, but according to a new poll, we share more of these pet peeves than you'd imagine.
Apparently there are six words the fairer sex can't stand, but the worst, according to a survey of 500 women, is the word 'moist'.
Underwear company Knix Wear worked with linguistics expert,
Mark Liberman from the
University of Pennsylvania, to determine what everyday words make women cringe.
The concept, known as word aversion, is the feeling of intense, irrational distaste for the sound or sight of a particular word or phrase.
So, what are the top six most hated words among women? Grit your teeth, you're about to read them all at once...
- Moist (77%)
- Squirt (68%)
- Panties (54%)
- Chunky (40%)
- Curd (23%)
- Flap (225%)
