This particular engagement ring has decreased in popularity

The end of an era? One major wedding tradition could be on the way out

We’ll take this with a pinch of salt.

When it comes to jewellery, trends change all the time and the same applies to engagement rings which is why it’s advisable to choose a timeless style that you’ll always love.

Of course, some styles are more popular than others at certain times and at the moment, there’s one type of ring that’s not in demand right now.

This refers to the pavé halo style, the cluster of diamonds that’s been a major hit with people over the years.

Now before you get annoyed and rush to defend your ring, remember this is just one expert and everyone has different taste.

This particular opinion comes courtesy of gemologist Olivia Landau, founder of The Clear Cut.

In conversation with Who What Wear, Olivia said that there has been a dramatic decrease in the number of people requesting this particular style of ring.

Olivia points out that people loved the halo because the centre diamond allowed for that extra sparkle while the tiny pavé-set diamonds ‘make the diamond appear a carat or two larger than its actual size’.

The designer suggested that the fact so many people opted for this style is why it’s not as in demand because those who are newly-engaged want something a little different now.

“As a result, we are seeing a shift to more unique diamond cuts and simpler ring designs”.

Again, this is just one person and what matters most about an engagement ring is that you love it, NOT what anyone else thinks.
