Restrictions that will be in place in Ireland during the Royal visit

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall are visiting Ireland from March 22–25.

Charles and Camilla visited Co Tyrone and Co Down on Tuesday and had a day of private engagements on Wednesday.

Today (Thursday, March 24), the couple’s visit will be concentrated in Waterford City Centre and other locations in Co Waterford, while tomorrow (Friday, March 25), the pair will visit South Tipperary.

Here’s what measures and traffic diversions you can expect in those counties over the course of the Royal visit.

Waterford:

• From approximately 6am on March 24, Parade Quay will close from the GPO roundabout to the junction of Catherine Street.

• Restrictions will be lifted by approximately 2pm on March 24.

• The Royal visit will have limited impact in other locations in Waterford City and Co. Waterford during the afternoon.

• Where necessary local Gardaí will have diversion routes in place.

South Tipperary:

• Access to the Cahir Castle will be restricted from Wednesday March 23.

• Cahir Castle Car Park will close to public at 5pm on March 23.

• Access to Cahir’s Castle Street, Bridge Street, The Square and adjoining roads will be restricted from 7am on March 25.

• Restrictions in Cahir should be lifted by approximately 1pm, March 25.

• Access to the Rock of Cashel will be restricted from March 23.

• St Patrick’s Rock Car Park in Cashel will close to public at 5pm on March 23.

• Access to roads adjacent to the Rock of Cashel and Brú Ború Heritage Centre, including Ladyswell Street, Rock Lane, The Kiln, Old Dublin Road (R639), Circular Road will be restricted from 7am on March 25.

• Restrictions in Cashel should be lifted by approximately 2pm, March 25.
