There are some films which are guaranteed Christmas films.
You know the ones: It’s A Wonderful Life, Die Hard, Home Alone, Love Actually, The Holiday – just to name a few.
And then there are those which have, over the years, become Christmas movies. Not because they are festive, but because they are all but guaranteed to be shown over the holiday season.
One of those being the story of the Golden Trio: Harry Potter, Hermione Grainger and Ron Weasley. After all, it’s not quite Christmas without watching Harry battle his way through the Triwizard Tournament, is it?
Well, thankfully, RTÉ2 are bringing a bit of Hogwarts magic back to the telly over the holiday period, screening all eight of the Harry Potter movies over Christmas.
It all kicks off next Monday, on Christmas Eve, with Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. The Chamber of Secrets will be on Christmas Day (on the same channel).
The broadcaster are showing the rest of them as back-to-back double bills on St. Stephen’s Day, December 27 and December 28.
