Same-sex marriage is officially legal in Ireland from today, November 16th.
Today is another day that will go down in history as it is the first day that same-sex couples can give full notice of their intention to marry.
It also means that those who have given notice for a civil partnership can now get married instead and those who tied the knot abroad will have their marriage recognised in Ireland.
It comes a matter of days after Minister for Justice Frances Fitzgerald signed the commencement order for the Marriage Act 2015.
This piece of legislation gives effect to the referendum which was held back in May that was supported by 62 per cent of voters.
