His wife and two children were murdered in 2020.

A man who has been accused of murdering his wife and children has been found dead in prison.

37-year-old Sameer Syed was found unresponsive in the Midlands Prison on Thursday afternoon.

He was set to go on trial for the murder of his wife Seema Banu (37). He has also been accused of murdering their two children, 11-year-old daughter Asfira and 6-year-old son Faizan.

The family was found dead at their home in Dublin in October 2020.

According to reports, his wife was strangled to death.

Their children were also killed in the same way.

After the discovery of their bodies at their home in Llewellyn Court, Ballinteer, police arrested Syed.

Gardaí then charged him with three counts of murder.

Syed’s cause of death has not yet been released, but no third party was involved.

The Coroner’s Office will determine his cause of death.

Speaking to The Independent, a spokesperson said:

“The Irish Prison Service can confirm the death of a prisoner in the Midlands Prison.”

“All deaths in custody are investigated by the Irish Prison Service, the Inspector of Prisons, and An Garda Síochána, where circumstances warrant.

Syed’s trial was set to take place at the Central Criminal Court next week.

The deceased previously said he was living in a “nightmare”.

He said if God gave him the chance to go back in time he would.

“If God gave me one wish, only one wish in my life,  I want to go back and be with my family happy.”
