Searching for a Summer Camp? You NEED This New Website

Katie Mythen-Lynch

The summer camp has saved many a parent’s bacon during the school holidays and now a new website is aiming to make it even easier to find the perfect fun fit for your kids. Scamps provides a listing and promotional service for all local and national camps in Ireland – no matter how big or small.

Speaking to Silicon Republic about the new venture, founder Liam Cunningham, a chartered accountant at Google, said Scamps was designed to take the frustration out of the search for an appropriate summer camp the kids will love.

“With more than 1.1m children in Ireland, it is reasonable to suggest that families with two working parents are finding it increasingly difficult to juggle full-time jobs and also accommodate their children during the 15-18 weeks of school holidays,” he said.

“Parents are frustrated at the amount of school holidays, the significant costs of childminding fees and the multiple Google searches they have to undertake to find a camp that works for their budget, location and child’s needs. Scamps addresses all of these issues through a simple, easy-to-use search platform.”

Having launched in April, Scamps already have at 1,600 summer camps on-site and at least one summer camp in every Irish town. The aim now is to build on these until all interests, from sports and music to drama and educational camps, are represented.
