School Bans Chocolate Due to Pupil’s “Intolerance”

HerFamily

A school in Wales has banned chocolate because one of the pupils is allergic to it.

According to BBC News, both pupils and teachers at Alltwen Primary School in Pontardawe are prohibited from bringing chocolate into the establishment.

Head teacher Owain Hyett reportedly said in a letter that the “no chocolate policy” is necessary for the safety of the pupil.

Apparently the child will become “very ill” if in contact with or in the vicinity of chocolate and is so sensitive that all areas of the school have to be free from the food.

This is the latest of many items to be banned from schools. Earlier this month, Norbreck Primary Academy in Blackpool banned birthday cakes.

Ten per cent of children and young adults have more than one allergic disorder, according to Allergy Ireland.
