At Home: Gardaí issue appeal after young woman injured in motorbike hit-and-run

Gardaí have issued an urgent appeal after a female pedestrian was hit by a motorbike on Priorswood Road, Dublin 17.

The hit-and-run took place at around 11.15 pm on Sunday night.

The motorbike driver failed to stay at the scene of the accident.

The woman, aged in her 20s, was rushed to Beaumont Hospital in a severe condition.

Gardaí are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Pregnant people urged to get vaccinated as ICU numbers rise

Pregnant people have been urged to get vaccinated after a stark rise in Covid ICU admissions.

According to reports, 20 pregnant and postpartum women have been admitted to ICU with Covid since June.

Dr. Cliona Murphy warned, “If they end up coming into hospital because of symptoms, they have a 10% risk of ICU admission, which is quite something.”

She said pregnancy should be considered an underlying condition.

She added that these patients “can deteriorate pretty quickly” and are spending up to 5 weeks in ICU.

Woman’s body found after a car was seen entering lake in Mayo

A woman’s body has been found after a car was spotted entering a lake in Co. Mayo.

Gardaí confirmed the body of a woman aged in her 50s was found in the early hours of Monday morning.

The woman’s body was removed from Lough Mask in Ballinrobe shortly after 5 am.

A post-mortem is due to take place at Mayo University Hospital.

Foul play is not suspected at this time.

World: 2 dead and 4 injured in Idaho mall shooting

2 people have been killed and 4 people have been injured in a shooting at an Idaho shopping mall.

The suspect is in critical condition in hospital.

Police believe there was only one shooter and the public is no longer in danger.

They added that they have yet to discover the motivation behind the Boise shooting.

Boise Police Chief Ryan Lee commented, “I cannot stress enough how traumatic this event is for the community at large, as well as for those that were witnesses, or are the families of those involved or involved themselves.”

Celebrity: Strictly’s Giovanni Pernice speaks out about breakup rumours

Strictly Come Dancing star Giovanni Pernice has responded to rumours about his relationship with Maura Higgins.

The professional dancer confirmed their relationship has ended, but urged people to focus their time on more important matters than his private life.
