The Green party has called for women in Ireland to be given free contraception.

The party aims to put the issue on the agenda for the 2022 Budget.

It is believed women aged between 17 and 25 will avail of free contraception.

Newstalk confirmed this could cost between €18m to €22m per year.

Vicky Phelan returns home after bad news

Vicky Phelan has returned home to Ireland after scans discovered new tumours had grown in her neck and bowel.

The mum revealed the harrowing news with her Instagram followers but said there is a treatment available to her.

“The ‘good’ news is that I can still have treatment and that this treatment will keep me alive until Christmas at least,” she shared.

Parents facing child benefit delays in Ireland

The Journal has revealed parents in Ireland are experiencing child benefit delays due to issues with birth registration.

The two-three month-long delays are resulting in parents missing out on child benefits and are waiting months for passports to arrive.

Irish parents can apply for the €140 a month payment once their child’s birth is registered.

The current situation families are facing has been described as “dire”.

World: Police officer charged with rape in London

A London police officer has been charged with rape.

46-year-old Pc David Carrick will appear in court today.

He was charged with rape by Hertfordshire Constabulary on October 3rd.

It is believed the man served in the same division as murderer Wayne Couzens. Couzens was sentenced to life in prison after killing 33-year-old Sarah Everard.

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Dame Cressida Dick commented, “I fully recognise the public will be very concerned too.

“Criminal proceedings must now take their course so I am unable to comment any further at this stage.”

Celebrity: Gordon and Tara Ramsey contemplating having a sixth child

Gordon and Tara Ramsey are contemplating having a sixth child, the chef has revealed.

The 54-year-old shared, “We discussed having another baby. I said it was a great idea.”

“She said: ‘Well, let’s start planning’. So I’m like: ‘Oh my god, just pause for two seconds. I’m going to be the oldest dad at school, what’s going to happen on sports day?’

“It’s something we’d still consider because it’s been such a joy spending time with Oscar.”
