Schools across the country are set to reopen tomorrow unless they have safety concerns, the Department of Education has confirmed.

A statement has been released which reads:

“Schools, VTOS and Youthreach centres will reopen tomorrow and school transport will be back in operation, subject to any damages experienced at a local level.

“As always, schools must ensure the safety of those in their care and give due consideration to this when making a decision to re-open.”

The Department also stated that any non-State school in need of repairs after ex-Hurricane Ophelia should contact its insurance company before getting in touch with the State.

Ophelia claimed the lives of three individuals yesterday and left hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses without power across Ireland.
