Fears are growing for a nine year old girl after she vanished from a family wedding in eastern France.

Maëlys De Araujo was last seen in a children’s room at 3am local time on Sunday.

According to the BBC, searches around the area including police dogs and a helicopter have not found a trace of the girl.

Cops have launched a kidnapping investigation and are continuing to carry out searches around the venue.

All 180 guests who were at the wedding in Pont-de-Beauvoisin, Isere, have been quizzed by police.

Maëlys was at the wedding with her mum, who is a cousin of the bride, as well as her father and older sister.

The Gendarmerie Nationale issued an appeal on Facebook for Maëlys’ safe return.

The statement from the police force describes the nine year old girl as being 4’3″, 61lbs with brown hair and brown eyes.

Maëlys is also said to be wearing a white dress without sleeves and white sandals.
