Speaking to The Belfast Telegraph, Ian said that the crew are hoping to have the series wrapped up by Christmas time and are aiming to have it on our screens by Spring 2022.
Filming was initially meant to start in May 2020 but was later delayed to the start of 2021, but with further restrictions set in at the time, it was delayed once again.
Ian said: "It’ll be great and we’ll be delighted to see it back because it’s still in people’s hearts a little bit which is nice."
While the cast is rejoining forces, Nicola Coughlan who places Clare in the series is currently in the UK filming the second series of Bridgerton, which is equally just as exciting.
But unfortunately for her, The Sun has reported that Bridgerton is in a bit of a pickle after Covid tests got mixed up, and filming has been delayed due to it as everyone needed to be retested.
And with this being possibly the last season ever of Derry Girls, we're just hoping Nicola makes it back in time to get her scenes in.Explore more on these topics:
