You can teach children about stranger danger and take precautions to keep your family safe, but this CCTV footage shows just how opportunistic kidnappers can be.
The video below, released by police, shows a kidnapping attempt on a four-year-old girl who was standing a couple of metres away from her mother in a store in broad daylight.
According to Kidspot, the incident happened at approximately 2.30pm in a shop in California last week.
The footage shows the child’s mother standing in the queue when a man reaches in and grabs the little girl.
Thankfully the man, who was 24 years old, lost grip of the toddler who apparently instinctively lay down on the ground. He was chased and police later took him into custody.
The child did not suffer any injuries but was understandably very upset following the incident.
