“Your child is what you eat”
If you are pregnant and find yourself craving less-than-healthy food (read: mountains of Ben & Jerry’s and chocolate muffins), you should probably look away now.
A new advertising campaign are using some rather disturbing visuals to warn expectant mothers about the effects their food and drink intake can have on their unborn children. The ads, created for Brazil’s Pediatric Society of Rio Grande, shows pictures of young babies suckling on breasts that have been painted to look like a variety of unhealthy treats.
As if the images weren’t enough to keep you on the nutritional straight and narrow, the ads also feature the ominous tagline: “Your child is what you eat”. Beneath the tagline, the ads imposes further warnings: “Your habits in the first thousand days of your child’s life can prevent your child from developing serious diseases.”
Designed by Brazilian-based agency Paim, the ads are designed to serve as a startling reminder that mothers can potentially harm their babies with their poor diets.
Right, who’s ready for some kale juice?!
