Simon Harris is a dad! Minister and his wife Caoimhe welcome baby girl

Excuse us, we have something in our eye…

Congratulations are in order for Simon Harris, who is now a dad!

The Minister for Health’s wife Caoimhe has given birth to the couple’s first child.

Taking to Instagram to share the news, the Wicklow TD revealed that they had welcomed a baby girl.

He called being a father his “most important job” and said that the new arrival’s name would be announced in due course.

“Today I take on my most important job – Dad!,” he wrote.

“Caoimhe and I are delighted to welcome our beautiful little daughter into the world.

“Name to follow! So happy. Who knew you could be so bowled over and blown away.”

Harris shared the news last summer that Caoimhe, a cardiac nurse at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin, was expecting a baby.

The couple married in July of 2017 in a ceremony in Kilquade, Wicklow with just 150 of their closest family and friends.

Guests on the big day included former Irish soccer international Damien Duff, then-Taoiseach Enda Kenny and other Fine Gael colleagues.

They celebrated with a reception at Tinakilly House in Rathnew, Wicklow.
