Wilmore's brother Larry, who is also a TV writer and comedian, spoke fondly of his brother on Twitter shortly after his passing;My sweet sweet brother, Marc Edward Wilmore, passed away last night while battling COVID and other conditions that have had him in pain for many years. "My sweet sweet brother, Marc Edward Wilmore, passed away last night while battling COVID and other conditions that have had him in pain for many years. My brother was the kindest, gentlest, funniest, lion of an angel I’ve ever known. I love you little brother. "Marc Wilmore started his TV careers in the early 1990s when he joined the writing team of In Loving Color. He then went on to be a writer and voice artist on The PJs and a writer The Tonight Show With Jay Leno before taking on the role of writer and co-executive producer on The Simpsons. Actors such as Flight of the Concord's Kristen Scaal and Xena star Lucy Lawless sent their heartfelt condolences to the Wilmore family;
