Sinéad O’Connor’s family has issued a statement following her heartbreaking death.
News of the 56-year-old’s death emerged this evening.
Her family shared:
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinéad. Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time.”
Tributes have been pouring in following the Irish singer’s death.
Author Marian Keyes wrote, “Oh lord, this is heartbreaking. How she suffered. Poor, poor Sinead. Rest in peace, you amazing, brave, beautiful, unique wonder.”

“Devastated to hear the news about Sinead O’Connor. What a loss,” Louise McSharry added.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar shared, “Really sorry to hear of the passing of Sinéad O’Connor. Her music was loved around the world and her talent was unmatched and beyond compare.”
“Condolences to her family, her friends, and all who loved her music. Ar dheis Dé go Raibh a hAnam,” he continued.
Colm O’Gorman added, “Truly awful news. So very sad to hear this. It is hard to think of an artist who has had the social and cultural impact of Sinead.
“What a loss. Heartfelt condolences to her children, her family, and all who loved her,” he added.
The Dublin native had a career spanning over three decades, with 10 studio albums.
Sinéad is survived by her three children. Her son Shane sadly died last year at the age of 17.
