Temperatures are going to reach -4 degrees tonight.

You better wrap up today ladies because Met Éireann has predicted that it’s going to be very cold, with snowfall predicted for some areas in Ulster.

The weather forecaster said: “Frost and any ice clearing this morning. Cold today with sunny spells and scattered showers. The showers mainly of rain or hail with the risk of isolated thunder. Some sleet or snow may occur in parts of Ulster though any accumulations will be limited.

“Highest temperatures of only 4 to 7 degrees, in light to moderate westerly breezes, fresher along northern coasts.”

Meanwhile, temperatures are said to drop to -3 or -4 degrees tonight with “severe” frost covering some areas.

“Cold, calm and clear tonight with a widespread sharp to severe frost and icy stretches. Temperatures will widely fall back to -3 or -4 degrees. Some fog later too, mainly in the southwest midlands.”

The outlook for the weekend isn’t looking too bad though, with sunny spells predicted to cover the country.

“Generally dry and calm with high pressure in charge. However, it will be duller early in the week with patchy light rain. Less cold too though, with frost and ice limited to where skies break by night. Mist and fog at times with slack winds.”
