Snow and temperatures as low as -5 forecast for Ireland in the next few days

It might be worth making sure you’ve plenty of bread in the house…

We’ve already had a brisk start to 2019 and the outlook for the coming week looks just as cold.

Met Eireann has forecast low temperatures and extreme conditions for the next few days.

Temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees are expected today but it’s set to take a very chilly turn overnight.

Cloudy conditions and wintry showers are predicted for the night, with temperatures falling to as low as -1 in parts.

Tomorrow will be showery, though it’ll clear in the afternoon with some sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees.

The weather will become increasingly unsettled and colder after Monday, Met Eireann says, and we can expect frost and wintry precipitaton.

Tuesday will see outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow which, later clearing with scattered wintry showers and some sunny spells. Highs of 2 to 6 degrees.

Tuesday night will be very cold with scattered wintry showers and lowest temperatures of -3 degree with a widespread hard frost.

Scattered wintry showers will become more isolated on Wednesday mostly dry later with good sunny spells. Winds will ease and there’l be highs of 3 to 7 degrees.

We’re in for severe frost and temperatures as low as -1 to -5 degrees on Wednesday night. There’ll be persistent rain in the west and southwest by dawn.
