Something MAGICAL Happened At This Little Girl’s Adoption Hearing

Katie Mythen-Lynch

It’s not every day the people you know as mum and dad are allowed to officially complete the adoption process, but the momentous occasion was made even more special for one five-year-old this week.

Disney princess fan Danielle Koning from Grand Rapids, Michigan was one of two children whose adoption to foster parents Jim and Sarah Koning, who she has lived with since 2014, was due to be finalised in court on June 8.

To make the day more memorable for Danielle and one-year-old Neveah, the girls’ foster care worker at Samaritas Foster Care Services decided to ask a colleague to attend the hearing at Kent County Courthouse dressed as Dannielle’s hero Cinderella.

Word spread around the office and soon, other princesses were volunteering.

On the day, Danielle, herself dressed as a fairy princess, walked into the court to find no less than eight Disney princesses (and one Prince Charming!) there to greet her.

As if that wasn’t enough, Judge Patricia Gardner has a surprise of her own for Dannielle: the judge removed her robe and conducted the proceedings dressed up as Snow White.
