My son’s teacher tried to force me to invite his entire class to his birthday- was she wrong?

Should you have to invite all children?

A lot of schools have a policy where you have to invite all children to your child’s birthday party. If you’re handing out invites in school then there should be one for each child in the class.

However, one dad had a major issue when his son’s teacher said he should invite all his classmates to his birthday party.

He explained to Reddit that he was stunned when he found out about the rule.

“I told her it is an event off school hours on private property in my home.”

However, the teacher didn’t care and said rules are rules.

“She can no more tell me what I do there and who I can and can’t invite any more than I can decide who is invited to her Thanksgiving dinner.”

The teacher explained that some children will be hurt if they were not invited.

But the dad said it was an unreasonable request.

“I pointed out to her that there are 24 kids in the class. If their parents attend the party with them then that can be upwards of 72 people and I told her that’s just not a reasonable thing to ask.”

He admitted he lost his cool with the teacher.

“I am not a 6-year-old in your class. I’m a 38-year-old union electrician planning a private event in my own home, off-school hours.”

The dad then said, “If you think you’re the one to make the rules for me, in my home on which I pay the mortgage, you can go f**k yourself.

The dad admitted he regrets cursing at the teacher but felt she went too far.

Do you agree with the dad or was the teacher right?
