Star Reveals The VERY Sweet Inspiration Behind Daughter’s Name

At first the name raised a few eyebrows, but within days of announcing that they had chosen to call their baby daughter James, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively had sparked a new trend in gender neutral monikers. 

Now however, the proud dad has revealed that their choice was much more sentimental than previously thought. Speaking about the apple of his eye on British TV this morning, Mr Reynolds announced:

‘We named her after my father,’

The actor (39) revealed that the name was chosen as a tribute to his own dad, James C. Reynolds, who passed away late last year following a 20 year battle with Parkinson’s. He was 74.

‘In the spectrum of weird celebrity baby names, I feel like we’re not really breaking any new ground here,’ he told Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway.

‘It’s not like Summer Squash Meadow Lark, or something. I also thought of all the letters being silent in her name, so it would be just be haaaa’

All jokes aside, the Deadpool star is relishing his latest role as Daddy:

‘She’s teething at the moment. I love being a father.’ he said. ‘I don’t want to be one of those celebs who talks about being a parent like they’re the only person in the world who has ever done it. ‘
