Starbucks sued by family for allegedly serving coffee containing blood

Starbucks is being sued by a family for serving coffee containing a barista's blood.

Amanda Vice and her family were attending the coffee shop in California when the alleged incident occurred. The mother told local news station KTLA that when the family returned home, they noticed that something wasn't quite right with the drinks they had ordered. She said that the cups had a "strong metallic smell." "Once we drank it, then we could see on the inside of the rim that there was blood," she said. Amanda also added that her daughter was eating whipped cream from the cup and "licking the lid." When the family complained about the incident, they were told that they could get free Starbucks drinks for a week. Amanda said they asked that the employee who had served them get a blood test, however, this was not "forced" by the company. The family have said they got their own blood tests on their own time and that the results have come back negative for any communicable diseases. Starbucks has offered the family $1,000 each, however, the family's lawyer claims that this amount is not enough for the distress that has been caused. Amanda said:

"We felt sick to our stomachs, we shouldn’t have to worry about going to get something to drink and there being blood in our drink where we could get sick. "It’s very stressful."

Starbucks told KTLA that they are prepared to represent their side of the case in court.
