Praise Be: The Handmaid’s Tale confirmed for Season 5

“All I can say is…hold onto your seats.”

Hit series The Handmaid’s Tale has been confirmed for a 5th series and we can’t wait. The drama has been a massive success since its release in 2017 and fans will be happy to hear there will be more viewing time in the future.

The announcement comes just ahead of the premiere of the fourth season on streaming platform Hulu.

The Handmaid’s Tale has been renewed for a fifth season ahead of its fourth season premiere on Hulu which is set for release in early 2021.

The cast are just as excited as we are about the fifth season as they announced the news in a video on the show’s Twitter account. Ann Dowd, who plays Aunt Lydia in the show, says “All I can say is…hold onto your seats.”

Elisabeth Moss, who plays June adds “I’m also thrilled to announce that we have been picked up for season five.”

Samira Wiley, who plays Moira, says “We got picked up for season five!” and Fiennes adds “blessed be the season five pick up.”

“It’s my privilege and honour to tell this story,” says Moss. “It’s gonna be a wild ride.”

Elisabeth Moss also posted the video on her Instagram with the caption: “Season 4 coming to you in 2021 and… we have been renewed for a season 5!!! Thank you to all of the fans of the show who make it possible for us to keep working on this show that we love so dearly. We’re hard at work now bringing you season 4, literally I’m on set as we speak… just can’t tell you WHAT set you’ll have to tune in for that.”

Creator and showrunner Bruce Miller said in a statement: “We’re very grateful to Hulu and MGM that the show will be returning for a fifth season, and especially to our loyal fans for their support.

“We are thrilled to be able to continue to tell these stories, with our incredible cast and crew, and can’t wait to be back on the air with season four next year.”
