Status Yellow weather warning issued for 6 counties across the country

It’s going to be a breezy one.

A Status Yellow wind warning has been issued for 6 counties across the country which will be valid from 3pm today.

Met Éireann said that Friday night will see the strongest winds in Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Clare and Kerry.

The weather forecaster said: “Southerly winds will reach mean speeds of 50 to 65 km/h, gust 90 to 100 km/h later Friday and Friday night in Atlantic coastal counties, strongest on the coast.

“Valid from Friday 02 November 2018 15:00 to Saturday 03 November 2018 12:00.”

Meanwhile, the weather forecast for today will see: “Cloudy in most areas this afternoon with outbreaks of rain and drizzle affecting Connacht, Munster, and west Ulster but staying largely dry further east until evening time.

“Becoming breezy as southerly winds gradually strengthen increasing fresh to strong and gusty on Atlantic coasts. Afternoon temperatures ranging 6 to 11 degrees and coldest in the north.”

And for tonight: “Windy with further outbreaks of rain and drizzle the rain turning persistent and heavy in the west and northwest. There will be hill and coastal mist also. Minimum temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees early in the night. South to southeast winds will be fresh to strong and gusty with gales along coasts.”
