Batten down the hatches because Storm Callum could be on the way.
Storm Ali, the first storm of the winter season, hit Ireland yesterday, claiming the lives of two people.
Now reports suggest that a second storm is forecast for Sunday and this one could be named Storm Callum.
Alan O’Reilly of Carlow Weather is keeping a close eye on the situation and so far he’s explained that Storm Bronagh is hitting Wales and England today.
The system bringing heavy rain to southern counties at present has been called #StormBronagh by UK Met Office as it will bring heavy rain and strong winds to Wales and England. pic.twitter.com/QOOmslF4f0

If the weather system predicted for Sunday does materialise, then it will be named Storm Callum but this has not yet been confirmed.

Having a look at the weekend’s forecast from Met Éireann, we’re looking at “widespread rain for a time with some strong winds possible”.
This is because a “low tracks close to or over Ireland” although again it’s too early to say whether this will result in Storm Callum or not.
In short, it’s worth keeping a close eye on the official Met Éireann forecast over the next few days. At present, there’s a weather warning in place for seven counties, perhaps a sign of what’s to come.
Status Yellow – Rainfall warning for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Cork, Tipperary and Waterford
