A mum has told of how a stranger tried to “grab” her baby when she answered the front door to him.

Zoe Whyman told police in Hatfield that a man and a woman knocked on her door on August 22 and asked whether she needed childcare for her baby.

The 27-year-old tried to shut her front door when the man stepped forward and tried to “grab” her child from her.

The Daily Mail reports that the man had called Whyman’s baby “cute.”

“The man said to me “he looks like a cute baby, can I give him a cuddle?”

It was a strange comment and my gut was telling me to shut my door so I stepped back and with my foot started to push my front door shut.

The man then launched forward to try and grab my baby but luckily I managed to shut my door in time and then they ran away.”

Whyman said that she called the police “straight away” as she was afraid the pair would come back again.

She also expressed anxiety over the incident and urged other parents in the area to be particularly vigilant.

“I feel heartbroken that it’s happened and am now worried that people have been watching me and that’s how they knew I had kids and a baby.

I just want to make other parents aware and warn them that this happened. Please, please be careful everyone.”

Hatfield police are currently on the look out for a man of “Asian appearance.”
