The family of a woman who was fatally stabbed during Saturday’s attack in Sydney has released a statement paying tribute to the devoted mother and giving an update on the condition of her baby.
38-year-old Ashlee Good died from her injuries sustained in the horrifying attack, but it looks as though her nine-month-old baby could survive after also being stabbed by the attacker.
Witnesses at the scene in Westfield shopping centre described how Ms Good threw her injured baby into the arms of two strangers in a last-ditch attempt to save her child’s life.

Family pay heartbreaking tribute to mum who died saving baby in Sydney attack
The two brothers who took the infant to safety told Australia’s Nine News about the traumatic incident.
“The baby got stabbed and, yeah, the mum got stabbed,” one of the brothers said. “The mum came over with the baby and threw it at me.”
The man said he used clothes from a store to try to stem the baby’s bleeding.
“I just helped by holding the baby… and trying to compress the baby.
“(It was) very bad… a lot of the blood on the floor… hope the baby’s alright,” the other brother said.
At least five people are dead following the stabbing spree. They are Ashlee Good (38), Dawn Singleton (25), Jade Young, Faraz Tahir (30), and 55-year-old Pikria Darchia.
The killer, who was shot dead by police at the scene, was also named as 40-year-old Joel Cauchi.
The family of Ms Good have since released a statement to the public, describing her as a “beautiful mother, daughter, sister, partner, friend, all-round outstanding human and so much more.”
They added: “We appreciate the well wishes and thoughts of members of the Australian public who have expressed an outpouring of love for Ashlee and our baby girl.”

Speaking on the condition of Ms Good’s baby, they wrote: “We can report that after hours of surgery yesterday our baby is currently doing well. We are so grateful for the expert care and attention of the medical team at Sydney Children’s Hospital.”
They also expressed their gratitude to the two men who helped the baby to safety.
“To the two men who held and cared for our baby when Ashlee could not – words cannot express our gratitude.
“We are struggling to come to terms with what has occurred,” the continued. “We would appreciate peace and privacy while we work through this as a family.”
