At Home: Death of mother and son could have been prevented at CUMH

An epilepsy expert stated at an inquest into the death of Marie Downey and her baby boy Darragh that their deaths could have been prevented.

Neurologist, Dr Ronan Kilbride claimed CUMH failed to treat, monitor, and prevent seizures.

Mrs. Downey was diagnosed with epilepsy but the court heard she was extremely good at managing her condition and always took her medication.

Mrs Downey suffered a major haemorrhage after giving birth to Darragh in 2019. She lost up to a fifth of her blood.

She was treated and then moved to a private room on Sunday night.

However, the following morning the mum was found lying out of her hospital bed with her baby boy trapped under her.

She was unresponsive and despite medical intervention, the mum passed away.

Darragh was in critical condition and died the following day.

The German baker placed fourth in this year’s competition, which came as a major shock to both viewers and his co-stars.

One fan wrote, “This can’t be real life, Jurgen was meant to win this.

“If you win the technical, then get eliminated it just shows that the judges are biased and aren’t being objective. Justice for Jurgen!”

Weather: Met Éireann confirms if we will have a white Christmas

Get ready to wrap up because freezing cold conditions are heading our way.

However, hopes of having a white Christmas this year have been dashed.

Met Éireann has revealed that the most we will experience this winter is a light frost.

Do you really want to be trudging through the slushy snow with a pan of Brennan’s bread under your arm again?

Met Éireann warned, “Temperatures are expected to be close to or slightly above the seasonal norm, though a cool brisk northerly airflow likely at first.”

“The northwest will be slightly wetter than average with the rest of the country marginally drier than normal. Mist and fog are likely to be potential hazards with the potential for some frosty nights too.”
