Teenage boy dies after getting into difficulty at Dublin beach

He was swimming with friends when he got into difficulty.

A teenage boy has sadly died after he got into difficulty while swimming at Burrow Beach in Dublin.

The young boy was swimming with friends at the Sutton beach at around 7.30 pm yesterday evening.

However, the boy started to get into difficulty when he was in the water. Emergency services rushed to the scene and removed the boy from the water.

His friend alerted emergency services after he started to struggle. His friend was also removed from the water but is believed to be physically fine.

The Coast Guard assisted with the rescue. The teenager was airlifted to the hospital shortly before 8 pm on July 11th.

He was then transported to Beaumont Hospital, Gardaí confirmed.

The teenager was also taken to CHI at Temple Street, where he was later pronounced dead.

Gardaí confirmed the young boy died from his injuries, despite doctors’ best efforts to save him.

Gardaí issued a statement following the horrifying incident.

“He was taken to Beaumont Hospital and then later to CHI at Temple Street in Dublin, where he later passed away from his injuries.”

The local community is said to be in extreme shock after the incident.
