Summer isn’t over yet.
I mean, summer is over. Let’s just be honest about it.
Still, we’ve seen a few rays this week, even if the promise of winter is beginning to make itself known, too.
All that said, and with the more dreary aspects of the weather lifting a bit, there’s some good, balmy news from Met Éireann this morning.
The latest national forecast predicts a pretty decent weekend ahead, with temperatures set to rise to as high as 23 degrees.
Saturday (21 September) is currently the pick of the bunch, with temperatures reaching 22 or 23 degrees in some parts of the west and midlands on a day where good sunshine should hit the east of the country.
However, outbreaks of rain are expected in the afternoon and evening in western coastal counties, extending to the rest of Ireland overnight.
Not bad?
Elsewhere across the weekend, Friday is expected to be warm and sunny with spells of sunshine and highs of 17 to 21 degrees, with the west of the country getting the majority of the heat.
Sunday, meanwhile, will see that overnight rain clear up, leaving clear and dry conditions giving way to a bright and sunny afternoon, though Met Éireann says to expect the odd shower.
Highs of 16 to 19 degrees close the weekend ahead of the following week where the early outlook is “unsettled”, which sounds more like the September we know and love.
As for today (Wednesday 18 September), things should be dry enough with long periods of sunshine and highs of 17 to 21 degrees.
Thursday is the much the same, though you’re looking at highs of 18 to 21 degrees this time.
