Anybody who remembers the sheer ‘we’re all going to hell’ terror of messing with an Ouija board in school will be staying well away from this one, but don’t be surprised if your tweens frighten the bejaysus out of themselves with a new internet fad in the coming days.
The ouija board-inspired game #CharlieCharlieChallenge is sweeping the world, one gullible teen at a time.
It works like this: Participants place two pencils in the shape of a cross over a piece of paper marked with four squares and the words ‘yes’ and ‘no’. The bravest in the group summons ‘Charlie’ (a Mexican demonic spirit, naturally) and asks a question.
The reactions are being uploaded thick and fast on social media (warning: salty language)…
A man calling himself The Vigilant Christian has even uploaded this video, warning youngsters against “unknowingly calling upon demons and giving them access to manifest supernaturally!”

Participants have also been urged to beware of upsetting the world’s favourite social media demon. According to various versions of the rules that have appeared online, one must chant “Charlie, Charlie can we stop” before finishing your session, lest you leave a portal open to the underworld. Obviously.
