There's going to be a very welcome change in the weather this weekend

It’s looking great but some people will get their odd wish.

When it comes to the recent heatwave that we’re enjoying, there are two types of Irish people. Those that welcome every second of the sunshine blaring down from the sky as we bask in its sweaty and sweltering glow.

Then there are the other people. Those that usually say “Ah, it’s a bit TOO hot right now. I’d love a bit of rain.”

Well, it’s rare that we get to say this but this weekend’s weather forecast will appease both types of people because the heatwave is here to stay but in some areas of the country, light drizzle and the occasional shower is also expected.

So, no matter what you’ve been hoping for, it looks like it’s good news.

Anyway, here’s what Met Éireann think is in store for Friday. Overall, it’s expected to be a lovely day with afternoon temperatures of 22 to 25 degrees celsius inland – 19 or 20 degrees in coastal areas due to sea breezes, especially on the west.

Tonight will be humid and cloudy in many areas with mist and local drizzle developing on parts of the west and north coasts.

Looking ahead now and Saturday will be a very warm and humid day. It will be generally dry but there will also be a spot of light rain on parts of the northwest coasts. There’s also a risk of some sea mist developing in parts of the east and southeast coasts.

But for most places, it will be a dry and warm day with a mix of cloud an sunshine. Afternoon temperatures of 22 to 26 degrees celsius are expected, highest in southern counties, cooler in coastal areas especially western and northwester.

Saturday night is shaping up to be exactly the same as Friday – humid and cloudy in most areas with a chance of drizzle in parts of the country.

As for Sunday, expect to see dry and warm conditions in most places, with some hazy sunshine, but cloudier in the north and northwest. There’s also a small chance of a few showers throughout the day.

Maximum temperatures of 23 to 28 degrees celsius, highest in southeastern counties, cooler with temperatures of 19 or 20 degrees celsius in coastal areas, especially on Atlantic coasts.

Sunday night will see some patchy rain develop overnight in the northern areas of Ireland but overall, the weekend will be mainly dry and warm.

Get out and enjoy it!
