There’s a new website to help Irish parents through losing a baby or infant

An excellent resource for parents and healthcare professionals.

A new website to help parents in Ireland through losing a baby or an infant has just been launched.

Pregnancy & Infant Loss Ireland now provides resources to grieving parents who may be struggling following the loss of a pregnancy or the death of a child.

The site also gives access to research and reports into why infant death occurs, as well as guidelines and pathways for healthcare professionals to follow during such a sensitive time.

The website is not a public forum and will not be monitored, but it will be regularly updated with available services, research, and advice for those who need it.

Launched by the INFANT Centre at University College Cork and the Irish Hospice Foundation, the site includes drop down menus directing users to bereavement teams, staff support, education, support links, and research.

It comes after the HSE concluded that there should be a consistent approach to bereavement care in all the 19 maternity units in Ireland.

This was introduced in 2016 by a team of healthcare professionals who have experience and expertise in the area of pregnancy loss and perinatal death.

The new website was built this year.

You can access it here.
