Whoops – we’ve all done this at one point.
It’s common practice to put a tag on your luggage with your home address, in the event that the bag needs to be identified or if it gets lost.
Well, it turns out this is a very bad idea and should never be done. According to The Mirror, a frequent traveller, Richard Clive Owens, has said it attracts the wrong kind of attention to your house.
He said:
“It says ‘This house is empty, please burgle – and take your time.’ Don’t put a friend’s house because the burglars don’t know it’s a friend’s house and will still burgle it.”
Instead, he suggests that you use a work address or your phone number as a means to identify the bag.
He adds:
“Put a work address and mobile number on it. Then, even if your mobile has a problem, your name and work address will help you and your underwear get reunited.”
