There’s a secret interview test we could all be failing

Looking for jobs and doing interviews can be very tough. The amount of time people fail to get their CV looked at is disheartening. Then to be called for an interview and fall at the last hurdle is even worse.

While you might have thought it’s all about the questions you answer within the interview process, it turns out there is a secret test that some employers use to make their decision.

It involves out of hours texts.

One owner of a company, Erika Nardini of Barstool Sports, has said that they use this text to test the response time of a prospective employee.

She explained to the New York Times:

“I’m a horrible interviewer. I’m impatient. To have a great hire, you need to spend a lot of time with that person and you need to see them in different settings. I rely on other people. Interviewing takes a village.

That said, I always root for the person without pedigree, someone who’s bootstrapped themselves. It’s not a negative if they have it, but you can quickly learn someone’s view of the world and how they got to where they are.

Here’s something I do: If you’re in the process of interviewing with us, I’ll text you about something at 9 p.m. or 11 a.m. on a Sunday just to see how fast you’ll respond.”

Sneaky or what?
