The top baby girl names in Ireland have been revealed in new research from the CSO, and you may be surprised by the top name in the country.
Lily has been announced as the top name for baby girls born in 2025. The charming moniker knocked the name Sophie off the top spot.
The top five names for girls in 2025 were Lily, Éabha, Fiadh, Grace, and Sadie.
It's clear that Irish names are becoming increasingly popular again, with both Éabha and Fiadh featuring in the 2025 top five baby girl names.
According to the CSO, "Lily claimed the number one position as most popular girls’ name in Ireland for the first time since our series began in 1964."
"Lily first started to gain popularity in 1997 when 15 girls were given the name, and it has been steadily climbing up the ranks since then. It first appeared in the top 10 in 2011 and in 2025 it replaced Sophie as the most popular name for girls."
The top five girl names are all special in their own way, and some of these monikers have the sweetest meanings we've ever heard of.
The baby girl's name that rose fastest up the rankings in 2025 was Raya. The name jumped from 213th place in 2024, to 99th in 2025.
