Their iconic portrayal of Tito (commonly mispronounced Tayto) and Ossie in the 1992 hit film Into The West won them a forever place in the hearts of a generation.

Jim Sheridan’s heart-wrenching story of two inner-city Dublin children and their epic adventure on horseback turned Ciarán Fitzgerald and Ruaidhri Conroy into overnight stars, sharing a screen with Gabriel Byrne and Ellen Barkin… but would you recognise them now?

Ruaidhri (now 37) appeared in ITV’s My Boy Jack, Kavanagh QC, and also had parts in Hart’s War and the Irish TV series Raw.

Ciarán, meanwhile, also had a sparkling future ahead of him and went on to appear alongside Daniel Day Lewis in The Boxer, with Helen Mirren in Some Mother’s Son. Roles in Fair City and with Brendan Gleeson in The General followed.

Now 33, he was last spotted among 256 future doctors to graduate from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
